USD & JPY Outlook: Prominent Events to Watch This Week

-JPY (JPY): Japan Gross Domestic Product (GDP) QoQ

-US (USD): U.S Nonfarm Payrolls

US (USD): U.S ISM Non-Manufacturing PMI

The Institute of Supply Management (ISM) Non-Manufacturing Purchasing Managers’ Index (PMI) (also known as the ISM Services PMI) report on Business, a composite index is calculated as an indicator of the overall economic condition for the non-manufacturing sector. The NMI is a composite index based on the diffusion indexes for four of the indicators with equal weights: Business Activity (seasonally adjusted), New Orders (seasonally adjusted), Employment (seasonally adjusted) and Supplier Deliveries.

A higher than expected reading should be taken as positive/bullish for the USD, while a lower than expected reading should be taken as negative/bearish for the USD.

The previous reading was 51.8 worse than the expected 53. The next report is due on December 05, 15:00 GMT. Its forecast stands at 52.

JPY (JPY): Japan Gross Domestic Product (GDP) QoQ

Gross Domestic Product (GDP) measures the change in the inflation-adjusted value of all goods and services produced by the economy. It is the broadest measure of economic activity and the primary indicator of the economy’s health.

A higher than expected reading should be taken as positive/bullish for the JPY, while a lower than expected reading should be taken as negative/bearish for the JPY.

The previous reading came out to be -0.5%, worse than the expected -0.1%. The next report is due on December 07, 23:50 GMT. Its forecast stands at -0.5%.

US (USD): U.S. Nonfarm Payrolls

Nonfarm Payrolls measures the change in the number of people employed during the previous month, excluding the farming industry. Job creation is the foremost indicator of consumer spending, which accounts for the majority of economic activity.

A higher than expected reading should be taken as positive/bullish for the USD, while a lower than expected reading should be taken as negative/bearish for the USD.

The previous actual data was 150k – worse than the forecast 180k.The upcoming report is due on December 07, 13:30 GMT and its forecast figure also stands at 180k.

Russell 1000– The index surged by 1.13% in value last week, closing at almost 2,520. Note that the Russell 1000 index has appreciated almost 7.73% in the previous 6 months.

JPMorgan Chase & Co – JPMorgan’s stock climbed by nearly 2.31% in the last 5 days. The stock has shown a positive performance this year, registering over 16% gains till date.

Berkshire Hathaway  – The stock demonstrated a negative performance previous week, shedding 1.18% in value. However, it has performed remarkably well this year, registering gains of almost 15% year-to-date.

Silver – XAGUSD’s price depreciated by 0.9% during the previous week. Currently, the commodity is trading at 25.185 USD.
